This Department is responsible for Employee Health, Employee Education, Workers’ Compensation, and Environment of Care issues.

Health screenings are conducted on all newly hired and current personnel. This health screening includes vital signs, medical questionnaire including any latex allergies and a Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) which is required annually for all hospital employees. If job description requires patient contact, employee will also be fitted and instructed on the proper use of a N95 Respirator which employees are required to wear with any patient suspected to have Tuberculosis.

All employees are required to complete education upon hire and annually. This education includes Infection Control, Personal Protective Equipment, HIPPA, EMTALA, Fire Prevention and Response, Employee Injury as well as specific education according to the employee’s job description. We also offer continuing education to employees throughout the year.

All employees who are injured on the job are required to notify their supervisor immediately and fill out an Accident Report.Employee Health will make sure that employee is seen either by our in-house FNP, the Emergency Department, or a Workers’ Compensation Physician. We also have a process to investigate each claim to determine why accident occurred and if this is a continuing problem that needs to be addressed.

We have an Environment of Care (EOC) Committee which consists of a cross representation of the hospital and nursing home staff. This committee is responsible for meeting quarterly to discuss Utilities Management, Emergency Management, Safety Management, Fire Safety, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management, Security Management, Product Recalls, and Accident Reports. This committee also makes environmental walk through tours of the hospital to improve on safety and infection control issues.
